Thought the 5MP of Nokia’s new flagship, the present ultimate king of convergence, N97 was good enough??…Time for a rethink. Nokia now bests its best with an 8MP camera on its newest Nseries entrant – The N86.
Sporting a 2.6» OLED screen, the N86 also comes with nokia’s standard 5-key navigation which was missing, but was not missed in the bigger beast. True that considering other major manufacturers such as Samsung and Lg are rolling out 12MP models and Sony is to soon join the fray with IDOU, Nokia’s move may seem an underplay. However it will be more than enough for anyone but the hardcore mobile photography enthusiast. It also has a Carl Zeiss lens and autofocus with dual stage image capture and dual-LED flash. It supports VGA resolution video recording up to 30 fps. like the N97, it also comes with A-GPS, digital compass, ambient light and proximity sensors but falls short because of its smaller screen and lack of touch sensitivity.
The phone offers a 3.9 hour talktime with 3G and 6.3 hours whilst on a GSM network. The Nokia N86 has been priced at Rs. 27,359 in India and will be soon available at a dealer near you!
The N86 will compete with the the likes of the Samsung Innov8 and the Sony Ericsson C905 in the battle for the 8MP crown. The Innov8 from Samsung incidentally also sports the Series 60 Third Edition Interface, same as the N86.
With the recent release of the N97, this might just steal some competition away from the bigger beast, especially those attracted by its camera. Either way though the ball’s in Nokia’s court.
