Fashion designers, like all artists, need to protect their creations and brand. Experts will offer their advice on the legal issues surrounding the fashion industry at the Fashion and Design Law Symposium on April 12, 2013, at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is hosted by John Marshalls Fashion Law Society.
Our goal for the symposium is to educate attendees about legal fashion issues, as well as connect designers and attorneys to help in building this new legal network, said RiKaleigh Johnson, advertising chair for the Fashion Law Society at John Marshall.
Topics include Legal Issues in the Fashion Industry: Creating and Protecting Your Intellectual Property; North American Comparative Fashion Law: Policies and Perspectives; Advertising Fashion Focus: Designers and Lawyers Perspective; Tariffs, Thimbles and Thread: Customs Law for the Fashion Industry; Walking the Walk: Labor and Employment Law Issues Related to Fashion Models.
